What is included in a Feta subscription?

When you join Feta, you can choose a Small Feta Family plan or a Large Feta Family plan. You can learn about the difference between the two plans here. Your membership renews at the same level each year. You can change your family plan or cancel your membership at any time in your account settings.

What is your privacy policy?

Privacy is important to us. We know you're trusting us with your family's information and we hold that trust closely. We will never sell your data or share it with anyone for marketing purposes. Plus, Feta is not a database, so your family’s information is not searchable by anyone outside the users on your account. Read more about our privacy policy here.

What countries is Feta available in?

While Feta is available all over the world, language support is currently available in English. If you’d like to bump up language support on our product roadmap, reach out to us here

Profiles

What is a family member profile?

When you add a person on your family tree, they get a profile. You can add a profile photo that is visible as a thumbnail on the family tree and relationships to other people on the family tree. You can also add bio and contact information, important milestones on their personal timeline, photos, stories about their life, and even fun things like their quirks and holiday wish lists! 

How can I access a family member’s profile?

You can click on any family member’s avatar in the family tree and their profile card will pop up. 

What is the difference between the Photos, Stories, and Timeline functionality in the left navigation of my family portal vs. within a family member’s profile?

The icons in the left navigation within your family portal enable you to add Photos, Stories, and Timeline events for your entire family. If you’d like to add the same content for a specific family member, you can do that through the family member’s profile.

How do I upload photos?

We are currently working on a Google Photos integration. In the meantime, you can upload them from your computer via a family member’s profile or via the photos option in the left navigation within your family portal. Please note that any photos in HEIC format will first need to be converted to JPEG or PNG on your computer before you upload them onto Feta. On a Mac, you can easily convert by opening a photo through the Preview application and exporting it as a JPEG.

Family Tree

Who can see my family tree?

Only assigned admins and contributors within a family tree can view their family tree and the content within it such as timelines, stories, and photos. Any one who is not an admin or contributor on your family tree can not view any aspect of your family tree. 

What’s the difference between Admins and Contributors? 

Admins are the “owners” of the Feta Family account. They can invite and remove contributors; and add, edit or delete content. Contributors are family members who have been invited to join a family plan. While Contributors can view, edit, and add all content within their family tree; they can only delete content that they have added. 

You can be an admin on one family tree while being a contributor on other family trees.

What happens to my family tree and all the content if I change my plan or cancel my membership?

Upgrading or downgrading your plan changes who can view and contribute to your family tree; it does not change any content already uploaded onto your family tree. If you cancel your membership, we save your family data for 15 days in case you change your mind. At the end of 15 days, all the content in your family tree will be deleted.

Family Timeline

What is the difference between the Timeline icon in the left navigation of my family portal and the Timeline icon on a family member’s profile?

The Timeline option in the left navigation within your family portal enables you to add events to the entire family’s timeline. If you’d like to add an event specific to a family member, you can do that via the Timeline function on that member’s profile. We love to use the family member-specific timeline to record milestones events like “firsts” in our toddler’s life, kindergarten graduations in our nieces’ and nephews’ lives, and our parents’ retirements. On the other, we prefer using the Family Timeline to record events such as family reunions, weddings, birthdays, and other anniversaries.

Do events that are on a family member’s timeline get automatically added to the family’s overall timeline?

This is up to you! When you add an event on a family member’s timeline, you have the option of automatically adding that event to the overall family timeline. You also have the option of adding any story with a date stamp to a family member’s or the overall family’s timeline.

Feed
Soon, you’ll be able to share updates to a family feed. Whether you’ve been accepted to university, have a photo from a family vacation to post, or are announcing a major life milestone, your family will know. Plus, changes to your profile can automatically be shared to the feed, if you wish.

Channels and Gather Mode 
The days of Whatsapp groups, 30-person email chains, and group texts are gone. You and your family will be able to do all your communication and coordinating in Feta. Create channels for different topics, like who is using the vacation home when or planning your sister’s baby shower.

Calendar integration 
While Feta can currently send every user reminders via email, in the future you’ll be able to link data in your Feta Family account to your calendar — so you never miss a birthday or anniversary ever again.
